Medicine Hat; Bow Island hit record low temps on Wednesday

Medicine Hat recorded a new minimum temperature record on Wednesday.

Temperatures in the city dipped to 5.8 C on July 16, 2025, marking it the coldest July 16 in the city since 1883, when record keeping began in the area.

Previously, the coolest July 16 recorded was in 2013, with a temperature of 5.9 C.

Bow Island also set a record low temperature on Wednesday, as the mercury plunged to 4.8C marking the coolest July 16 since 1961.

Coincidentally, the previous coldest day in Bow Island was also recorded on July 16, 2013, with the temperature dipping to 5.1 C.

Environment Canada is forecasting mild temperatures throughout the weekend in Medicine Hat with a mix of sun and cloud.
