Municipal property tax bills due by end of work day Monday

The deadline to have 2025 municipal property tax bills paid is the end of business at city hall on Monday, June 30, with similar requirements in Cypress County and Redcliff.

That is the typical day each year that tax amounts are due, though the date falling on a weekend has moved the deadline in recent years. Cypress County also moved its collection day from the fall several years ago.

In the City of Medicine Hat, amounts not paid or subject to an instalment plan at 4:30 p.m. on Monday will be subject to an 8.5 per cent penalty.

Online payments by credit card can be made on the city’s website, though 2.4 per cent will be added to the account for the credit company’s handling charge.

Tax bills can also be paid at chartered banks or by mail, but five days should be allowed for processing and delivery.

Cypress County will also accept payments ahead of its June 30 deadline in person at the county office in Dunmore before 4:30 p.m., and accepts mail post-marked on June 30, but warns that mail is not necessarily post-marked on the day it is put in a mail box.

The Town of Redcliff applies an immediate 5 per cent penalty on July 1, then a further 10 per cent on any amount left unpaid on Jan. 1.
