Women in Business group seeking volunteer committee members

Women in Business and Leadership Medicine Hat is seeking new volunteer committee members who are interested in supporting the female business community by hosting uplifting events that include the Women in Business Expo and Inspire Awards.

The non-profit society released a statement Tuesday saying it is actively recruiting new committee members who will be asked to attend a dozen two-hour meetings that occur throughout the year.

“This is a volunteer working committee, meaning there is no paid staff, and therefore attendance and participation is critical,” reads the statement.

Additionally throughout the year WIB hosts between two and four events, some may be held on weekends or during the evening. The non-profit says any experience or knowledge in accounting, marketing, social media or event planning would be an asset.

“Every effort is made to allow exclusivity on the committee based on trade or profession,” continues the release. “Committees benefit most when there is a good diversity of backgrounds, skills, abilities, industries, characteristics and contacts.”

Women in Business and Leadership Medicine Hat was established in 2001 and specializes in providing business training and workshops to Hatters, as well as welcoming speakers tailored for businesswomen to Medicine Hat.
