@MedicineHatNews The body of a teenager who drowned attempting to swim across the Oldman River at Lethbridge was recovered Thursday morning, the Lethbridge Regional Police Service announced. Authorities say they were called to the scene at about 7 p.m. on Wednesday by a report that the 17-year-old male went under the water near the High Level Bridge and did not resurface. A search by drone, police boat and local rescue organization was called off overnight. The body was recovered at 9 a.m. by the Lethbridge Fire and Emergency Services Water Rescue Team on Thursday and will be sent to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Calgary. Police say there is no evidence of foul play. Sask RCMP seeks man Swift Current RCMP are asking the public for information on the whereabouts of a man wanted on a three-year-old arrest warrant. Walkara Kunkel, 31, faces charges of resisting a police officer, unsafe storage of a firearm and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, relating to a file from late 2022. He is described as standing six feet tall, weighing 195 pounds with brown eyes and hair and multiple tattoos on his arms, including images of a skull, arrowhead and bear paw print. He is known to frequent Edmonton, Lloydminster and Cardston. The public should contact local police and not approach him, the Swift Current detachment stated. 12
