The RCMP Musical Ride will make Medicine Hat a destination this summer, a release from the police force states.
The troop will perform in Quebec and Alberta this summer, with early Eastern dates in the spring and fall and the Western leg portion beginning with the Calgary Stampede in early July.
A total of 20 Alberta communities will host performances of the 32 riders and mounts until the first week of September.
The Medicine Hat performance at the Medicine Hat Stampede Grounds will take place Aug. 6 and 7.
Intricate formations and drills set to music will also be performed at Edmonton, Pincher Creek, Red Deer, St. Paul, Cold Lake, Lloydminster, Strathmore, Rocky View County, Camrose, Athabasca, Wabasca, High Level, La Crête, Fairview, Donnelly, Whitecourt and Mayerthorpe.
Performances help raise thousands of dollars for local charities and non-profit groups.
Ranch show, chucks hit town
The inaugural Cypress Farm and Ranch trade show and separate World Chuckwagon derby are readying to kick off on Thursday at the exhibition grounds.
Chucks will run 7 p.m. shows from Thursday through Saturday, while Sunday’s matinee gets underway at 2 p.m.
The farm show will include presentations and vendors for an agricultural and rural audience.
“This area has some of Canada’s most productive farms and ranches but has been underserved in terms of major agricultural trade shows,”
show hounder Dave Fiddler told the Stampede in a release.
“The farmers and ranchers in this area are investing heavily in innovation, creating the perfect environment for industry growth and success.”
Stampede GM Ron Edwards said the combination of the two events should benefit both.
