Alberta Municipalities hosting webinar series as tutorial for potential election candidates

Albertans who are considering running in this fall’s municipal election can learn more about local government and the rolls and responsibilities of elected officials in a series of webinars provided by the province’s municipal advocacy group.

Alberta Municipalities, formerly the Alberta Urban Municipalities Association, is holding a series of online information sessions to outline the breakdown of jurisdictional powers with the provincial and federal government, as well as expectations and potential impacts local elected officials can make.

Webinars tailored for county or municipal district candidates will next be held June 24, July 18 and Aug. 13.

Small to mid-sized municipalities will be discussed on July 16, Aug. 14, Sept. 9 and 16.

Mid-sized to large centres are the topic on June 19 and July 15.
