Part of the Community Foundation of Southeastern Alberta’s work to help foster the region’s next generation of givers, they are pleased to announce that this year’s Youth in Philanthropy program was a success.

A total of $21,300 was distributed to local charities through its Youth in Philanthropy (YiP) program this spring, engaging 11 student groups from across southeastern Alberta in hands-on community giving, said CFSEA.

“We’re continually inspired by the care and insight these youth show through their giving,” said Niki Gray, CFSEA’s executive director. “YiP gives students the tools to become leaders in their communities, today and in the future.”

The program introduces motivated young people to philanthropy and community development. Participants form a committee, research community needs, connect with local charities and award grants where they feel will make an impact.

Organizations supported through the program this year included HALO Air Ambulance, Medicine Hat Adaptive Sport and Recreation, Ronald McDonald House Charities Alberta, Redcliff Youth Centre, Medicine Hat Women’s Shelter Society and Brooks Food Bank, among others.
