Council’s discussion on reimbursing Mayor Linnsie Clark $76,000 in legal bills, incurred while challenging a council ruling, was postponed again Monday.

Clark, who put the item on the agenda in early April, told council this week she is preparing a clarification requested by other councillors and that should be available later this month.

When it is taken up, potentially at council’s June 16 meeting, members excluding the mayor will be required to discuss the matter likely in closed council at first, then bring any position or resolution to an open meeting.

The request comes after a Court of King’s Bench Justice asked last August for lawyers representing Clark and the city to discuss costs after a judicial review found that a number of sanctions placed on the mayor were unreasonable.

The total also includes legal expenses Clark incurred responding to a lawyer’s letter from city manager Ann Mitchell outlining the potential of a defamation suit.

No further action on that issue was taken, according to Clark.
