asmith@medicinehatnews.com Cypress County wants to hear from its business community, to better shape the future of what can be offered. To this end, the county has launched an official survey, aimed at better understanding the plans, priorities and needs of local businesses. “We want to hear directly from businesses about what’s working, what isn’t and where they see opportunity,” said Beth Cash, economic development officer for Cypress County. “This survey is a key step in helping us understand the needs of our business community so we can better support them and attract the right kind of investment to Cypress County.” The feedback received from the survey will help guide economic development within the county, to ensure it is aligned with real business needs. Assisting in this endeavour will be Deloitte LLP, an economic development consulting firm the county has retained. They will work closely with county staff to analyze the survey results and identify the challenges and opportunities presented. “To keep our economy strong into the future, we need to be investment ready,” said Reeve Dan Hamilton. “This survey is about making sure we understand what our businesses need to grow and thrive. Their input will help shape a strategy that attracts the right investment and supports a resilient, sustainable economy for Cypress County.” Businesses may be contacted at random, by phone or by email, between May 26 and June 13. The survey is expected to take no more than 15 minutes to complete, and those contacted are encouraged to participate. The project is expected to wrap up by the end of June 2025. 9
