The province has developed a new interactive tool designed for mobile devices and desktop computers to allow students and families to search the approximately 3,000 high school courses and programs available to Alberta students.

The new search tool can be used when visiting learnalberta.ca and will provide Albertans the opportunity to browse courses related to specific subjects and learn about the course details, related curriculum and prerequisites.

The search tool can also be used to address students’ interests and plan out successful transitions into the workforce, or into a post-secondary institution for higher education.

“The catalogue will help students and parents make decisions about course offerings, including options like career and technology studies, off-campus education and fine arts,” reads a statement from Alberta Education.

According to the province, local school boards are able to work with Alberta Education to create locally developed courses to meet the needs of the community or school.

These locally developed courses are available on the course catalogue, and with the local board approval, can be offered by any school in the province.
