Blue Cross’ grant program opens 2025 application process

By Medicine Hat News on May 15, 2025.

The Built Together grant from Blue Cross is now accepting 2025 applications.

The grant aims to encourage active living, with $50,000 grants given annually to Alberta healthy living infrastructure projects. One grant is awarded to each of the following regions: Edmonton, Calgary, a secondary city, a rural community and an Indigenous community.

“As a champion for wellbeing for Albertans, we know that providing community-based amenities to promote active living means healthier populations,” said Brian Geislinger, senior vice-president of corporate relations and community engagement with Alberta Blue Cross. “Through the Built Together program, we’re really investing in the preventative health of Albertans.”

Not-for-profit organizations, municipalities, schools and community groups are eligible and encouraged to apply. Eligible projects have included skating rinks and walking trails, to parks and outdoor gyms.

Applications are open until Sept. 22.

To date, Built Together has provided $2.65 million in funding to 53 projects supporting active living in communities across Alberta.
