newsdesk@medicinehatnews.com Tickets are now on sale to the public for the large-scale Firefighter’s Gala that will commemorate the historic milestone of 125 years of active service to the community. The evening celebration will include a formal dinner, silent auction, live entertainment and dancing and will take place at Co-op Place. Duelling pianists Jared Brake, Tyler Casat and Nic Evangelos will perform live throughout the evening, as well as a performance by the Lethbridge Firefighters Pipe and Drum Band and more. “The gala is an opportunity to honour the service and sacrifice of our firefighters, past and present,” says fire chief Chad Eakins. “And to thank the community that has supported us for more than a century, we invite residents to join us for an evening of reflection, celebration and connection.” The Gala begins at 6 p.m on Oct. 25. Tickets are $75 each, or a table of eight guests can also be purchased. Funds raised from the silent auction will go to support the Firefighters’ Charitable Foundation. This summer the service is also hosting two free public house events in celebration of their 125th anniversary and are planned on June 21 at Station No. 2 and Sept. 13 at Station No. 1. These open houses will include tours, apparatus and equipment displays, as well as a showcase of historical items and artifacts from the service. Members of the public are also encouraged to check out an anniversary photo exhibit currently on display in the main lobby and second floor of the Esplanade Arts & Heritage Building until the end of September. 10
