@MedicineHatNews Lantic Sugar has a new five-year agreement with the Alberta Sugar Beet Growers to supply the company’s Rogers Sugar refinery in Taber. The deal, announced May 9, will cover the 2025 to 2029 seasons. “We are pleased to have reached an agreement with the Alberta Sugar Beet Growers for another five years,” said Lantic and Rogers president Mike Walton in a statement. “This agreement will help support the needs of our customers in Western Canada.” The sugar beet growers comprise about 200 producers and 28,000 acres of farmland. Last year deliveries totalled 850,000 tonnes of beets, which represent Canada’s only domestic production of sugar. 6
