There are new baby names on top in Saskatchewan

Sorry, Olivia, the nine-year run as the most popular name for baby girls in Saskatchewan is over.

Sophia emerged as the top name for girls in that province in 2024, according to a release from the Saskatchewan government on Tuesday.

A total of 48 births last year were registered under Sophia, five more than Olivia. Henry, with 53 new arrivals, rose 18 spots from the previous year to claim the most popular boys’ name in 2024. That was followed by Oliver, Liam, Noah and Levi, respectively in the top five.

On the girls’ side, Charlotte, Isla along with Hazel and Ellie (tied) rounded out the top five.

A total of 13,189 births were recorded in 2024 to parents with Saskatchewan addresses.
