Ace Hardware along Maple Avenue will now be operating under the well-known Home Hardware banner according to owners Myrna Stark and Colin Hyland.
“We are very excited to bring this familiar Canadian brand to this part of our city,” said Stark in a press release sent to local media outlets.
“After Ace exited the Canadian market, we continued to operate independently while working toward acquiring Home Hardware. We’re thrilled to officially join the Home family.”
Additionally, the Hill Home Hardware location along Fourth Avenue will be merging with the new Maple Avenue location at the end of May, closing its location in the SE Hill Community and integrating the remaining product into the Maple Avenue’s location.
“This is a great business move for everyone involved,” says Stark.
“We know the strong connections (Dale Miller, owner Hill Home Hardware) has within the community and we’re excited to welcome him aboard,” the release read. “We also hope some of his experienced staff will choose to come along, we’d be glad to have them.”
Over the next few weeks the team at the new Home Hardware location says they will be focusing on preparing the garden centre for its annual Mother’s Day Sale.
The Canadian chain of home improvement stores was founded in Canada in 1964 and officially became a national hardware chain in 1981 after merging with western Canada-based Link Hardware.
Home Hardware operates approximately 1,110 stores across the country under the Home Hardware banner, as well as the Home Hardware Building Centre, Home Building Centre and Home Furniture.
