Upcoming discussion looks to help seniors stay independent

The Unison at Veiner Centre is hosting a discussion on home care in May that will highlight services that are available to help seniors stay independent while maintaining a good quality of life at home.

The two-hour Home Care Presentation held by Palliser Friends of Medicare will cover a range of topics, including different types of home care services and how to access them, as well as tips for selecting the best care options to suit individual needs.

“Join Jessica at the Veiner Centre to discuss home care. She will share valuable insights into the services available to support seniors in maintaining their independence and quality of life at home,” reads a promotional ad.

Attendees are also encouraged to ask questions and engage in a lively discussion.

The presentation is planned to begin at 1 p.m. in the Craft Room on May 14. Registration is required by calling 403-529-8307.

Spring Fling Dance

Get your dancing shoes ready, the annual Spring Fling Dance is coming up at the tail end of May.

The Glenmorin Band will be performing live during this year’s Spring Fling Dance planned for May 24 at the Veiner Centre.

Doors will open at 6:45 p.m. and attendees, who are encouraged to wear spring attire, will be able to rock ’round the clock until 10:30 p.m.

“Don’t miss out on this wonderful opportunity to meet new friends, connect with fellow community members and create lasting memories,” reads a promotion.

Tickets are $15, cash only, and are available to purchase at the Veiner Centre. There will be beverages available for purchase through a cash-only bar.

East Coast cruise

Until April 29 the Veiner Centre is accepting early-bird deposits from travellers interested in voyaging on the Veiner Centre’s inaugural 10-day cruise planned in May and June next year.

The cruise will depart on May 30, 2026 and travel across the East Coast and into the St. Lawrence River visiting Montreal, Quebec City, Prince Edward Island and St. John’s along the way.

Travellers who make an early deposit until April 29 will receive a bonus board credit on cabin choice.
