newsdesk@medicinehatnews.com RCMP have released a public service announcement reminding drivers they need to move over and make a clear road available for police and first-responder vehicles travelling with their emergency equipment activated. Police say recently first responders have been experiencing an increase in drivers not pulling over for vehicles with active lights and sirens, causing delays to “critical response time and outs lives at risk.” Drivers are reminded to slow down, signal and pull over to allow emergency vehicles with flashing lights to move ahead. Once pulled over, drivers are asked to stop until the emergency vehicle has passed. Failing to yield to an emergency vehicle is an offence and can result in a $243 ticket. 6
