Woman arrested after allegedly threatening roommate with knife

A 54-year-old Medicine Hat woman has been arrested and charged after police responded to a disturbance between roommates at a residence on the 2600 block of 21st Avenue SE on Saturday.

Upon arrival police say officers discovered windows of the home had been smashed, allegedly by the suspect while assaulting her male roommate and threatening him with a knife.

Police successfully negotiated with the suspect and took her into custody without further incident. The male was unharmed in the incident.

The suspect has been charged with two counts of uttering threats, breach of court order, assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public.

She was held for a Judicial Interim Release hearing and remained in custody until she appeared before the court Tuesday.
