In recognition of Earth Day, the city once again is hosting its annual Litter Blitz event that aims to clean up trash across the city.
The community-wide cleanup kicks off April 26 and runs until the following Saturday on May 3.
This year’s events will start with an Earth Day Bash held in Police Point Park on April 26 that will include family-friendly Earth Day activities and allow volunteers to pick up Litter Blitz supplies.
Supplies can also be picked up throughout the week from 8 a.m, to 4 p.m. at the parks and recreation office on Kipling Street.
A wrap-up barbecue to thank volunteers is planned from noon to 2 p.m. at Police Point on May 3.
Alongside being an environmental steward within the community, participants who scoop up the most trash will also have a chance to win prizes that include overnight stays in a comfort cabin at Gas City Campground, as well as family day passes for Big Marble Go Centre.
To enter, the city is asking participants to share a photo of themselves, family, friends or organization picking up litter around the community and tag the City of Medicine Facebook or Instagram pages.
