MHCBE appoints new director of learning supports and services

Cody Young has been appointed new director of learning supports and services for the Medicine Hat Catholic Board of Education and will provide support to school support teams and service providers in his new role.

Young, currently serving as vice principal at Mother Teresa School, began his teaching career in 2012 and holds a Master’s Degree in Education Research specializing in Leadership from the University of Calgary.

“Cody has worn many hats during his time at Mother Teresa School, including his role in piloting and implementing the STREAM program,” reads a press release. “His transition to vice principal and advancing the continuum of support framework as an LST.”

MHCBE explains Young will be working directly with learning support teachers to implement differentiated strategies to support the range of learners within the classroom.

Additionally, Young will work directly with school-based teams and families to provide support for students with complex learning needs.

Young is expected to assume his new role in August.
