asmith@medicinehatnews.com With Earth day just around the corner, the Medicine Hat Interpretive Program is gearing up for its annual Earth Day Bash. “Earth Day is a global event that advocates for the health of the planet, for our air, oceans, soil, eco-systems, wildlife and human health,” says Mhairi Donnelly, assistant chief park interpreter. “While our event is taking place after the official international date, we are following this year’s theme – Our Power, Our Planet – as we dive into the electrifying world of renewable energy.” The event will be held April 26 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m at Police Point Park, where attendees are encouraged to grab an Earth Day passport from the Nature Centre and visit all the activity stations on the map to collect stamps and enter a draw to win prizes. This year’s event will also include information booths from some partnering organizations, like renewable energy companies and the City of Medicine Hat. The family friendly event is free to attend, and requires no registration, says Donnelly. 7
