newsdesk@medicinehatnews.com The Medicine Hat Public School Division is gathering feedback from students, parents and guardians and teachers to assist in highlighting priorities and opportunities for growth at local schools. OurSchool Survey launched Monday and will be available to complete until April 23. The division uses the feedback to support future planning decisions and gain a better understanding of the contexts of each of its schools. “The research-based questions are grouped to assess eight drivers of student learning and four dimensions of classroom and school practice,” reads a press release. Results will remain anonymous. Participants will receive a randomly generated login credential and questions are broad enough so answers cannot be linked back to participants. The survey takes approximately 20 minutes to complete, however it must be finished in one session. “We appreciate the time and commitment it takes to complete the survey. This type of evidence supports the importance of reflecting and considering our collective and individual work in supporting our students’ learning.” Students and teachers will be able to complete the survey during school hours, and a link to the survey will be sent to parents via email. Parents with children attending multiple schools will have an opportunity to complete a survey for each child. The survey is not intended to assess teacher performance. Dual-credit info session The division is hosting a two-hour learning session to showcase dual-credit, work experience and RAP opportunities for students in Grade 9-12. The learning session kicks off at 6 p.m. at the Medicine Hat High School Hub on April 10 and will include a student panel to share their personal experience in the programs. The session will also provide information on summer credit opportunities. The division says additional information can be found by emailing Kelly Pitman at launch@sd76.ab.ca. 16
