A Medicine Hat car dealership is changing hands.

The Gary Moe Auto Group announced Monday it has completed the purchase of Standard Dodge Jeep Ram on Strachan Road in the city from the Swift Current-based Plewis Motor Group.

“Just because there is a new name we are still going to provide the same service to our customers in Medicine Hat,” the company stated in a release.

“We want to extend a heartfelt thank-you to the Plewis family for such a smooth and seamless transition. We’re incredibly excited to be part of the Medicine Hat community and look forward to continuing to serving customers with the same trusted service, commitment, and dedication.”

Management and staff are expected to stay in place at Gary Moe Medicine Hat Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram.

Gary Moe Auto Group began in Red Deer in the late 1980s and now operates Chrysler and Mazda dealerships in Lethbridge.

The chain also includes Hyundai and Mazda dealerships in Red Deer along with a detailing service, as well as Dodge and GMC dealerships in Lacombe and Stettler, respectively, and a collision centre.

The Swift Current-based Plewis Group acquired Jackson Doge in Medicine Hat in March 2021 from the Knight Automotive Group, which had kept the original name of the dealership since the early 2000s.

Plewis also operates Badlands Harley Davidson In Dunmore, since 2022, along with three “Standard” dealerships in Swift Current and one in Shaunavon, Sask.
