asmith@medicinehatnews.com Coderre Flower Farm and TRAD Worm Industries are hosting a small launch event for Southern Alberta Soils, their new approach to seed starting and care. Combining local innovation with rescued materials, SAS is made with seed starting and seedling care in mind. Created with wool from 4H groups alongside waste products from greenhouses, breweries and producers, the soil aims to sustainably help gardeners and promote a circular economy approach. The launch event will feature an afternoon of free soil samples, live soil-blocking demonstrations and a selection of perennials, summer bulbs and seeds, hosted at Homestead Market today from 1-3 p.m. “We’re excited to offer gardeners a solution that not only works but also helps to close the loop on waste,” said Amber Coderre, co-creator of Southern Alberta Soils and owner of Coderre Flower Farms. 6
