On Thursday, Cypress-Medicine Hat MLA Justin Wright was named among three new parliamentary secretaries who were officially sworn into their new roles.

Wright, who will continue in the role of military liaison with the province, has been named the new Parliamentary Secretary for Rural Health in the south zone.

“It is an honour to serve as our government’s Parliamentary Secretary for Rural Health (South) in addition to my role as military liaison,” said Wright. “Our government’s commitment to ensure Albertans have access to the health care they need, when and where they need it, is especially important for those who live in rural communities.”

Wright says he is looking forward to working alongside Health Minister Adriana LaGrange.

In the province’s north zone, Rob Wiebe, MLA Grande Prairie-Wapiti, was named Parliamentary Secretary for Rural Health and will also report to LaGrange.

Additionally, Nolan Dyck, MLA Grande Prairie, was named Parliamentary Secretary for Indigenous and Rural Police and will be reporting to Minister of Public Safety Mike Ellis.

“I am pleased to welcome our three newest parliamentary secretaries,” said Premier Danielle Smith. “As the parliamentary secretaries for South and North Rural Health, MLAs Justin Wirght and Ron Wiebe will be key advocates for rural Albertans, ensuring we continue building a better and stronger health care system that serves the needs of all Albertans in every corner of our province.”

The newly named parliamentary secretaries join six others who work with ministers to fulfil their mandate items and deliver on promises and commitments.
