The city is accepting applications from members of the public to sit on a new Resilient and Inclusive Task Force that was founded in response to growing concerns in the community related to public disturbances and “anti-social behaviours.”

The task force is composed of local and provincial politicians and local social service agencies, and is seeking members of the public to serve on the task force to ensure broader community perspectives and experiences are represented within the group.

On March 12 the task force met for its inaugural meeting that included MLAs Danielle Smith and Justin Wright, Mayor Linnise Clark and MP Glen Motz. Additionally representatives with Medicine Hat Community Housing Society, the Mustard Seed, police, AHS, the city and the Chamber of Commerce were in attendance.

During meetings the task force is intended to develop and implement strategies and actions that will enhance community safety and promote social cohesion in the community.

“We’re looking for individuals who are passionate about our community and want to share their expertise as we develop our strategy and actions,” said Joe Hutter, managing director of public services. The task-force will sit in two-hour meetings, every two weeks for the next six months and is seeking two members of the public to join.

Applications will be accepted online until noon on March 26. A link to the application page can be found by visiting the cities website and navigating to the “Committees, Commissions and Boards” tab under the “Government & City Hall” section.
