asmith@medicinehatnews.com Mobile Mammogram services are headed toward Brooks, helping eligible people detect early signs of cancer. Provided by Alberta Health Services’ Screen Test program, this service allows for individuals with breasts aged 45-74 to receive a mammogram, which is an x-ray of the breast where they may not otherwise be readily available. These x-rays, says AHS, “are the best way to find breast cancer early when treatment may work better. Getting screened for breast cancer saves lives.” The trailer will be at the Brooks Health Centre at 440 Third St. E., from March 17-23. Information on the process, as well as further criteria for who should get screened for breast cancer, can be found on screeningforlife.ca. Appointments are required to get a mammogram, and can be secured by calling 1-800-667-0604 to book an appointment or learn more about the program. 8
