asmith@medicinehatnews.com Alberta Health Services is offering workshops to help those with chronic illnesses, or who may be supporting someone with a long-term condition, to take control of their health. These online workshops, which will run over Zoom from 6-8:30 p.m. every Tuesday for six weeks, begin on Feb 25. Topics will include managing symptoms and difficult emotions, talking to health-care teams, ways to eat better and become more active and options for handling daily tasks which chronic conditions might make difficult. “Better Choices, Better Health workshop sessions are led by trained volunteer leaders, many of whom live with a chronic pain condition. This approach ensures an understanding of the challenges participants face, and provides a supportive and welcoming environment,” said AHS. Interested participants require access to a device that has a microphone, camera and the ability to connect to the internet. Those who may benefit from the workshop are encouraged to register by calling toll-free at 1-866-795-9709. 7
