RCMP update:Stolen truck found in Brooks

A truck stolen in Medicine Hat was recovered in Brooks on January 16, Mounties in that city report.

Police discovered the Dodge Dakota abandoned in an alley behind a residence on Meadowbrook Green. Officers recovered the vehicle and the investigation is ongoing.

Theft at dump

Three suspects cut through a fence at the Newell Regional Landfill on January 15 and pilfered scrap metal from bins at the site, the Brooks RCMP detachment says.

Authorities say the material was loaded into a vehicle and driven away. Anyone with information should contact police.

Ice-fishing mishap

A man whose truck was full of ice-fishing equipment that had gone missing won’t face charges after the rightful owner accepted an explanation that the gear appeared to have been abandoned.

RCMP officers were called to the Tel-Star Motel on the evening of January 18 and questioned the owner of the truck in question.

The suspect claimed that a propane heater, tent, and shovels appeared to have been left on a frozen lake. The items were returned to their rightful owner, who chose not to press charges.
