By MEDICINE HAT NEWS on January 18, 2025.

The Medicine Hat Police Service has laid charges following a robbery earlier in the week.

The Police said Friday they have changed a 33-year-old Medicine Hat man with multiple offences related to a robbery in the 900 block of 16 Street SW on Tuesday.

MHPS says patrols responded to a robbery with violence at a business after a man entered the premises, forcefully stole cash and threatened staff with a weapon while wearing a disguise.

An investigation was launched and taken over by the Major Crime Unit. Following the investigation, Police arrested and charged Justin Gallant with multiple offenses, including robbery, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public, disguise with intent, possession of stolen property and failing to comply with release order conditions.

Gallant was also apprehended on several outstanding warrants from Calgary.

Following a judicial interim release hearing, Gallant was remanded into custody with his next court appearance scheduled for Monday.
