@MedicineHatNews Crescent Heights High School will showcase its Heights Academy during an open house planned at the end of the month. Students enrolled in the Grade 7-9 academy will have the opportunity to participate in several sports including football, volleyball, basketball, soccer, golf, rec ed, speed swimming and e-sports. As well, the new academy offers opportunities in theatre, art, dance, as well as stagecraft and technical. Parents and guardians are invited to attend the two-hour open house and meet some of the coaches and instructors, Jan. 28 at 6 p.m. There will be an opportunity for parents to register to secure a spot. Early Learning series MHPSD is hosting an early learning series for parents and caregivers of children pre-kindergarten at the end of the month, presented by Lauire Hailwyz-Way and Lynae Egert. The free session, planned for approximately 45 minutes, will provide families practical tools, strategies and techniques to support and enhance speech and language development. “This will be an interactive and engaging session where we learn together and leave equipped to make a real difference,” states a promotional ad. Registration to attend the workshop, titled ‘Call out to all Support Superheroes,’ can be found easily by visiting the division’s Facebook page. The workshop will run 6:30-7:15 p.m. on Jan. 28 at Herald School. Additional workshops focusing on early mental well-being and building resilience through play are planned for the spring. 12
