newsdesk@medicinehatnews.com Students attending Medicine Hat College have until the end of the month to apply for four scholarships currently available to financially support post-secondary education. Application deadline for scholarships – including the Jason Lang Scholarship, Laurence Decore Award for Student Leadership, Alberta Indigenous Careers Award and the Dr. Gary McPherson Leadership Scholarship – is Jan. 31. The Jason Lang Scholarship awards students $1,000 who are enrolled full-time in their second or subsequent year, and have achieved a minimum Grade Point Average of 3.2 or 80 per cent. The Laurence Decore Award for Student Leadership recognizes post-secondary students who have demonstrated outstanding dedication and leadership to fellow students in their community and is also valued for $1,000. First Nations, Metis and Inuit students can apply for the Alberta Indigenous Careers Award for a total of up to $4,000, applicants must be in the second year or greater of their program. Students who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, especially in the area of disability, or initiatives to improve the conditions and lives of others, are encouraged to apply for the Dr. Gary McPherson Leadership Scholarship valued at $2,000.
