A Coaldale man was arrested on Boxing Day and charged with five daylight rural break-ins in Lethbridge County dating back to November, the Picture Butte RCMP detachment states.

Bradley Goosen, 38, was arrested in Fort Macleod for allegedly damaging a residence. A search warrant at his residence in Coaldale was executed with the assistance of the Southern Alberta Crime Reduction Unit and police dog services.

He will appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Fort Macleod on April 2.

Copper bandits strike

About $20,000 in copper wire was taken from a rural oilfield site near Chancellor and Standard, Alta. on Jan. 5 with the culprits causing $10,000 in damage during the theft, Mounties reported Wednesday.

Bassano RCMP say thieves used a vehicle to tow away a large amount of heavy-gauge cable between 12:30 and 5:30 a.m. on that day. The investigation is ongoing.

Highway DUI

RCMP say a driver whose vehicle was starting and stopping on the Trans-Canada Highway had more than three times the legal limit of alcohol in his system at 4 p.m. on January 7.

Bassano RCMP were called to the highway east of that town and charged the lone occupant of the vehicle, an unnamed man from Peace River, with impaired diving and issued a roadside licence suspension.
