RCMP Report: Brooks detachment releases calls for service stats for 2024

Brooks RCMP responded to 94 drunk driving incidents in 2024, that city’s detachment reported in a year-end update released Monday.

Those were among 6,104 calls for service over the last 12 months, including 310 traffic collisions and 444 thefts, while 401 individuals were held in custody at some point during the year.

Additionally, the 2024 tally shows that City of Brooks peace officers issued 1,868 traffic tickets and 614 warnings for traffic violations in 2024.

There were 44 charges for driving without insurance, 507 speeding tickets in school and playground zones, and 290 tickets related to Class 7 licences (learner’s permits).

Drugs seized

A traffic stop on early morning of New Year’s Eve netted methamphetamine and illegal cannabis along with scales and six cellphones, Brooks RCMP report.

The driver of the vehicle was arrested and charged with drug trafficking following the stop at 2:17 a.m. on Dec. 31.
