A new art exhibition called “Mosaic’ that features the work of second-year art and design students begins today at Medicine Hat College’s One on One Gallery.

Art on display showcases students’ answers to a question by graphic design instructor, Yulin Wang, “Is it a mosaic or a melting pot?” The goal was to offer unique perspectives that focus on multiculturalism, creativity and unity.

“Not only will the students demonstrate their different approaches, but their designs provide a greater platform to address and celebrate multiculturalism and richness of our world,” says Wang. “I strongly believe by embracing togetherness we can celebrate the richness in creativity, cultural diversity and broaden our viewpoint in our life.”

In the past, several art exhibitions have focused on fine arts like painting, drawing, printmaking and sculpture. This exhibition will have a unique focus on graphic design.

“This exhibition gives viewers a chance to see what second-year students are learning about graphic design,” says Jessica Plattner, program co-ordinator and art and design instructor.

Members of the community are invited to view the work during gallery hours until Jan. 29. As well, the college is hosting a public reception Thursday Jan. 16 at 7 p.m.

More information on ‘Mosaic’ and upcoming art exhibitions can be found by visiting the college’s webpage.
