Bindloss ranching couple Peggy and Bill Herman have been honoured by the Alberta Herefords Association with an induction into the breed group’s hall of fame.

The couple began ranching in the 1960s and built up a purebred herd that sent bulls to the sale in Medicine Hat from 1982 to 2007, the year after Bill’s passing.

The family continues to ranch and raise cattle, while Peggy Herman continues to judge shows, a citation notes of the AHA website.

Patch manoeuvring

Calgary-based junior oil and gas company Tenth Avenue Petroleum has closed financing and the purchase of stakes in wells near the Dinosaur area north of Brooks, the company announced Friday.

The 16 net sections include 49 per cent working interest in two wells and one-quarter interest in eight others.

“This acquisition builds on TPC’s growing platform in the Southern Alberta Mannville stacked oil fairway, complementing our existing production at Murray Lake, Vulcan and Hays that will continue to serve as a key driver of production and reserve growth.” said Cameron MacDonald, Tenth Avenue’s president and CEO.

The purchase was announced in October, and is funded after the company issued 500,000 shares at 10-cents.

Pipeline removal

A solar power developer has applied to remove a dormant pipeline on the site of an approved solar array near Dunmore.

“Dunmore Solar Inc.” says removal of the abandoned natural gas pipeline segment is needed to “allow for unfettered surface usage” at the site about two kilometres east of the intersection on Highways 41 and 41A, near Medicine Hat. The line is owned by Petebrook Investments.

The Alberta Energy regulator is evaluating the request.
