newsdesk@medicinehatnews.com Utilizing a drone as well as a K9 team, Medicine Hat police on Jan. 1 arrested a 38-year-old man from Redcliff following a report of a break and enter at a commercial property. Police responded to a robbery in progress call shortly after 11 p.m. in the 1500 block of Brier Park Road and located the suspect, who was hiding, by tracking his scent leaving the business. The man was apprehended by the police service dog, and police allege that further investigations revealed the same man was responsible for breaking into a neighbouring business. The suspect faces multiple charges including two counts of break and enter with intent to commit an indictable offence, two counts of mischief, possession of break-in instruments, resisting arrest and two counts of failing to comply with a release order. The man has not been identified by police as is currently in custody awaiting a bail hearing. 7
