Albertans are encouraged to nominate an individual or group for this year’s Minister’s Seniors Service Awards, recognizing service and generosity toward seniors by volunteering or through philanthropy.

Nominations are open for 13 awards, including the Alice Modin Award, which recognizes a senior individual or couple for exceptional commitment to their community through long-term volunteer service.

Modin is known for paving the way for the provincewide Seniors’ Weeks, which is celebrated annually in June.

The province is also highlighting two service awards, including the Bridging Generations Award, which honours multi-generational connections, and the Community Philanthropy in Action Award that recognizes philanthropic efforts to support seniors.

“I sincerely appreciate every Albertan who dedicates their time and energy to uplift the lives of seniors across the province,” says Jason Nixon, minister of seniors, community and social services. “They play an incredibly important role in helping Alberta’s seniors live happy, healthy and vibrant lives. I encourage everyone to nominate a volunteer or organization that they believe deserves our thanks and recognition for their hard work.”

The nomination deadline is April 30 and covers a period from 2024 to 2025. There are two ways to submit a nomination. Online nominations can be made by visiting alberta.ca/ministers-seniors-service-awards. To mail or email a nomination form you can visit the same website to download a printable nomination booklet.

Past award winners can also be found online.
