@MedicineHatNews A Medicine Hat man spent Christmas in jail in Brooks after he was charged with assault with a weapon and resisting arrest in Tilley on Dec. 24. The RCMP state that the unnamed male left a house where he allegedly made threats against another party but was apprehended in a field nearby at about 10 p.m. on Christmas Eve. He faces three counts of assaulting a police officer, three counts of assault with a weapon, uttering threats mischief and resisting arrest. Assault Another Brooks man was charged with assault with a weapon after a 19-year-old woman was sent to hospital with non-life threatening injuries on Dec. 24. Police attended a residence on Greenbrook Road at 10:50 p.m. and charged the 28-year-old suspect. Rural robbery A large amount of oilfield equipment was stolen from the Steveville Helium facility near Patricia, Brooks RCMP reported on Dec. 24. Mounties responded to the report of a break and enter at 1:22 p.m. that day. The investigation is ongoing. Fatal crash A 25-year-old woman from Calgary was killed on Dec. 27 as the vehicle in which she was travelling could not avoid crashing into two jack-knifed semis near Rosetown, Sask., RCMP in that province reported. The male driver of the SUV was take to hospital, but no other injuries were reported from the scene on Highway No. 7, where other vehicles entered the ditch. 13
