Two border crossings between eastern Saskatchewan and Montana will see expanded hours of operation made permanent, the U.S. Customs and Border Security Agency has announced in a raft of changes at 38 ports of entry with Canada.

In Alberta, the Port of Del Bonita will permanently maintain current hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., but there are no changes listed at the Port of Wild Horse, south of Medicine Hat, which is now on winter hours of 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. seven days per week.

“This will allow CBP to increase border security while facilitating legitimate cross-border trade and travel. CBP officers will be deployed to busier ports of entry, enabling the agency to use its resources most effectively for its critical national security and border security missions,” the agency release read.

The crossing near Scobey, Mont., located south of Moose Jaw, will operate on a summer and winter schedule, while the nearby West Poplar port, between Opheim, Mont. and Gravelbourg, Sask. will open seven days per week.

The changes involve operating hour changes that in some cases have been in place for years.

Morgan, southeast of Climax, Sask., will permanently maintain current hours of 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on business days.
