A 12-car collision near Gleichen closed westbound traffic on the TransCanada for several hours on Monday afternoon.
Mounties from Brooks, Bassano and Gleichen responded to the site, east of Cluny, at about 10:30 a.m. as a snowfall warning was in effect.
Highway condition reports stated the section was snow covered. They advised at noon that cleaning up the scene could last two of three hours more.
Environment Canada pegged Medicine Hat Airport as the provincial hotspot at noon, with a reading of 6C, though with a 60 per cent chance of snow and a forecast overnight low of minus-7C. 3
