asmith@medicinehatnews.com The intersection at Third Street and Sixth Avenue SE has reopened to motorists, as ongoing utility and surface upgrades in the area are near completion. With the reopening of this intersection, the 600 block of Third Street returns to one-way traffic accessible off S. Railway. During construction, this block had briefly accommodated two-way traffic. Further along, the 500 block is expected to reopen by the end of week, weather permitting. This will mark the final closure of this project in 2024. There is remaining work on the project, such as top lift paving, minor concrete work, landscaping and pavement markings, which will be undertaken at the Third and Sixth intersection, as well as the 500 block of Third Street. The expected start date for this remaining work will be in the spring, and is expected to take approximately one week. The City of Medicine Hat thanks residents, business owners and motorists for their patience and understanding during this project. 8
