news@medicinehatnews.com Premier Danielle Smith will travel today to Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, to attend the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference and meet with Canadian Ambassadors. According to Smith the petroleum exhibition is one of the world’s largest and most important energy events, and she plans to meet with Alberta exhibitors showcasing new energy technologies. Not only is the UAE our largest trading partner in the Middle East, it is a global leader in implementing sustainability initiatives to enhance its oil and gas developments,” Smith said in a release Tuesday. “While aggressively growing entirely new economic drivers, such as artificial intelligence, big data analytics and cloud infrastructure.” According to the exhibition’s websites, the annual conference attracts more than 184,000 visitors and features more than 2,200 exhibiting companies. Smith will return from her five-day trip on Nov. 10 that will also include a tour of Masdar City with UAE officials and potential business and roundtable meetings. According to the release Smith will highlight Alberta’s efforts to be the world’s most sustainable producer of energy and a world leader in reducing methane emissions and carbon capture, utilization and storage. “Deepening our relationship with the UAE is critical to the long-term economic prosperity of Alberta,” said Smith.
