A brief lockdown at Crescent Heights High School was resolved by a school police resource without a physical altercation, school board officials told the News on Friday.

The north-end high school entered a “hold and secure” protocol shortly after 9 a.m. after administrators were told that a “student had made a significant threat against another student.” Realizing the parties were in the building, a “lockdown” occurred five minutes later, and lifted three minutes after that.

A press release states a person was dealt with by the police resource officer at the school, and no weapons were involved.

The Medicine Hat Police did not return a call seeking comment.

Injury crash

The driver of a moped was taken to hospital on Thursday night after a collision on Dunmore Road, Medicine Hat Police report.

The injury collision occurred at about 7:40 p.m. after the southbound moped operator was struck by a truck turning left onto the overpass to the westbound TransCanada Highway.

A release on Friday asks that witnesses or any motorist with dash cam footage of the general areas of the crash at the time of the accident contact the service’s non-emergency line (403-529-8481).
