@MedicineHatNews Mounties in Brooks say they discovered a trove of power tools while investigating a homeless encampment in that city last week. RCMP say Brooks bylaw enforcement officers alerted them to the location on Sept. 20. When they arrived they discovered a large hole in the ground where a number of “high-end tools” were found. Officers are now attempting to determine rightful owners of the equipment, while the investigation is ongoing. Suspected DUIs Mounties were called to assist a city peace officer in Brooks on Sept. 19 after a vehicle was clocked at 93 kilometres per hour in a 50-zone on Second Street W., and ran a red light. The driver refused to provide a breath sample to RCMP officers and was charged with failing to comply and ticketed for speeding. The vehicle was impounded for 30 days. In a separate incident the same day, RCMP responded after a vehicle hit a parked car and say they apprehended the female driver after a brief foot chase. She was given a roadside sanction and is due to appear in court in November. 9
