Asphalt crack sealing to begin on select city roads

The City of Medicine Hat will begin asphalt crack sealing on select roadways on Thursday.

The crack sealing project, weather permitting, is expected to be complete by the end of October. A map of the roadways selected for crack sealing can be found on the city’s website.

The purpose of the city’s project is to stop moisture from penetrating the base and sub-grade of the road, which prevents the weakening of roadway structure.

Traffic accommodation plans will be in place as this project begins and one lane will be kept open for each of these work areas.

Motorists are reminded to obey all posted signs and speed limits and are encouraged to avoid these work areas where possible for the safety of travellers and crews.
