In celebration of Medicine Hat’s vibrant arts scene, the city’s annual Art in Motion event is slated for this Saturday.
The celebration will transform various parts of downtown, including the Esplanade Arts & Heritage Centre, Towne Square, Riverside Veterans’ Memorial Park and part of First Street SE, from noon to 5 p.m.
“Art in Motion is all about bringing our community together to celebrate creativity and culture,” said Candace Lundrigan, cultural programs co-ordinator at the Esplanade. “We are excited to create an interactive experience that inspires everyone to engage with the arts in a fun and meaningful way.”
Art in Motion includes art demonstrations, hands-on activities, an Art Market showcasing more than 40 local vendors, a variety of performances, live music and cultural displays, as well as an opportunity to speak with the city in regards to an Arts, Heritage and Entertainment Plan.
This engagement opportunity will run from noon to 3 p.m. in the main floor lobby of the Esplanade.
A full list of event information can be found on the Esplanade website.
To facilitate the event, along with setup and takedown, First Street from Maple Avenue to Fourth Avenue SE will be closed from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
