The South Alberta Light Horse Regimental Museum announced they will be open to the public for the season, starting Sept. 18.

They will be open every Wednesday afternoon from 1-4 p.m., through until Dec. 11. Volunteer docents will be available to answer questions and provide pertinent information.

“From Medicine Hat’s earliest history as a settlement to current times, local residents have stepped forward to serve their country. The Regimental Museum preserves the military history of Medicine Hat and in particular the South Alberta Light Horse and the many units it perpetuates,” said curator Wes Krause.

Visitors will see a progression of history from the turn of the century to current times including an accurate and authentic rendition of a WWI trench.

The museum illustrates the service of these men and women through various historical artifacts, including uniforms, equipment, unit insignia photographs and medals, said Krause. Exhibits have been professionally tailored and assembled to appeal to all audiences.

Tours outside of operating hours can be arranged by contacting the curator at salhrmcurator@gmail.com.
