Mounties in Swift Current have seized more than a pound of methamphetamine along with other drugs while charging one male resident of that city with dealing narcotics.

The RCMP’s Swift Current Saskatchewan Trafficking Response Team and Swift Current City RCMP executed two search warrants on Aug. 29, according to a release Wednesday.

Searches of a business on N. Service Road and a residence on Robert Street E. turned up 503 grams of methamphetamine, 52 grams of fentanyl and 105 grams of cocaine, along with trafficking paraphernalia and cash.

Daljeet Singh, 30, of Swift Current, was arrested at the business, where he was a patron.

He is charged with three counts of possession drugs for the purpose of trafficking and one count possession of the proceeds of crime over $5,000.

Singh was scheduled to first appear in Swift Current Provincial Court on Tuesday.

Long-weekend traffic in Brooks

Peace officers in Brooks stopped and charged a driver for driving 153 kilometres per hour – nearly twice the speed limit – on Seventh Street E. near Railway Avenue on Aug. 29. The male driver was arrested, given a ticket, charged with careless driving and ordered to appear in court in October.

RCMP officers found a flat-bed trailer that came detached on the Trans-Canada Highway in a field 5 kilometres east of Tilley on Aug. 30. The owner said the trailer broke away after a pin sheared and safety chain broke. No one was injured though the trailer smashed through a barbed-wire fence.

Two men were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries on Aug. 31 after a single-vehicle crash on Highway 875 near Rolling Hills. The investigation is ongoing.
