asmith@medicinehatnews.com The City of Medicine Hat has announced an upcoming community engagement event, inviting members of the public to get to know city staff. Residents are encouraged to come and “municipal mingle” with various departments and projects at Towne Square on Sept. 12 from 4-7 p.m. The event is “designed to foster a collaborative environment between city staff and community members,” said the city. “The open-house format allows for informal interaction where attendees can engage in discussions that interest them the most. It’s an opportunity to ask questions directly to those involved in the forefront of the city’s development and services.” Those attending are encouraged to provide feedback, ask questions and connect with those involved in projects that affect them, as the goal of the mingle is to receive insights, gather feedback and encourage community participation as they work to shape the future of Medicine Hat. Several departments and services will be attending, from municipal works and economic development to other services such as the Medicine Hat Police Service bylaw enforcement and Medicine Hat Fire and Emergency Services. The first 100 attendees will receive a $5 food voucher, and Pickelo Kitchens will be onsite with fresh artisan bowls. The city hopes to see residents out for food, games and a chance to get to know the different individuals who work to keep the city running smoothly. A full list of attending departments, as well as information on giveaway prizes, is available at shapeyourcity.medicinehat.ca/municipal-mingle. 9
